Aluminum Windows from Germany are thermally broken. These windows have an inner and outer aluminum shell that is "rolled" on a fiberglass frame which creates the thermal break. Due to this process, aluminum windows can have different coloring on the inside and on the outside and a wider fiberglass frame can easily improve the energy efficiency of the unit.
Aluminum Windows are mainly used for large openings where the units have to withstand intensive structural stress or they can be integrated into a complete fassade system.
